Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
